Help: How to Order

Ordering products from our online store couldn't be easier. You simply browse the shop and add any items you like to your "basket". Once you have filled a basket, you then go to the "checkout" to process the order.

Once you start the checkout procedure you will be redirected to the secure area of our site so you can be sure the payment and delivery details you provide cannot be observed by any third party. This area of the site uses 128bit encryption so you can be safe in the knowledge that any information you give us is totally secure.

Browse the Shop

To start browsing the products first click on one of the categories to the left "inspirational home", "beautiful bags" etc.... This will return a list of all products that match the chosen category. Clicking on any of the pictures will take you to the product page for that item.

The product page has full details of the item. There is a row of three buttons underneath each description; "add to basket", "add to wish list", "product detail". There is also a button for sending e-hints. (don't worry about this for now, you can view the "How to send an e-hint" help page for instructions on how to use this feature).

"add to basket" - this will add the current product to your shopping basket. This does not commit you to buying it, the product can always be removed later.

"add to wish list" - This is a feature that is not available until you have registered with us. Wish lists are covered in full on the "How to use a Wish List" help page.

"product detail" - this will pop up a new window containing a magnified image of the current product or an alternative colour, if applicable.

Every product also has a number of drop-down menus underneath the description. Using these you can change the number of items you would like to purchase, or add gift wrapping to that item. Some products may have further options, eg. colour or size. These should be chosen before clicking "add to basket".

Your Basket

You can view your basket from anywhere within the site. Simply click the "view basket" link in the top bar. This will take you to the "Your Basket" page, which lists all the items you have gathered while shopping.

Any item can be removed from your basket by clicking "delete item". If you just want to change the quantity, you can do this by typing over the number in the box and clicking "change quantity".

At the bottom of the list you will see the subtotal, delivery charge and order total for the items currently in your basket. To see how delivery charges are calculated see the "postage and packing" help page. Please note: lavender/room will only currently deliver to the UK.

Once you are happy with the items in your basket you can order them by taking your basket to the "checkout". Simply click on "checkout" at the bottom ("continue shopping" will return you to the shop without ordering anything).

Checking Out

Stage 1

Firstly, you will be required to log in (if you haven't done so already), or register with us.

To register you must provide us with your name, postal address, email address and a telephone number. You will also be asked to create a username and password, which can be anything you choose. Pick something memorable, and specify a password which is unlikely to be known by anyone else.

Stage 2

Secondly, you choose how you wish to pay. There are 2 payment options to choose from: credit/debit card or gift voucher.

Gift vouchers can be used as part or full payment towards your goods and are covered in more detail on the "How to send a Gift Voucher" help page.

Once selecting the payment method, click "checkout" to proceed.

Stage 3

In this final stage you will now see the details of your order for final review.

You also have the option of writing a message to be sent with any gift-wrapped goods. Please note: if you would like to send the order to a different shipping address than the one specified in your account, select "update" to modify your account.

You are then required to enter your card details (or gift voucher details if you have chosen that option). Enter the details as instructed. Note: the three digit security number required is usually found on the back of the card, on the signature strip.

Clicking submit will complete the process and your credit card details will be sent using a secure server (encoded to 128bits), ensuring that they cannot be observed by any third party. You will then be given a summary of the order, we advise that you print this page for your records.

lavender/room is then sent notification of your order. All orders are processed manually, so your order may not be processed immediately, especially if you are ordering in the evening or at the weekend.
